i woke up yesterday feeling freakishly energetic. i'm not sure why, since i was low on sleep (again) and had a long day Saturday what with the BBQ and the gaming and stuff. the BBQ seems to have been a real hit, although i wasn't quite satisfied with how it came out -- i think i started it out at a slightly too-high temperature, and didn't replace the hickory chips often enough. i'll have to take another shot at it soon.
anyway, as it happens, 8 lbs. of meat turned out to be just about exactly right. i had just enough left over for a couple of sandwiches for lunch yesterday, which i enjoyed in between steam-cleaning the carpet and moving the small bookcase from the bedroom to the living room, sorting the books and junk on it onto the other bookcases, and moving all my videotapes, CDs, and DVDs onto it. it looks a lot tidier than the previous setup. i even spent some time scrubbing scuffmarks off the walls. what i didn't end up doing, on the other hand, was the laundry i'd planned to do. also, i managed to slip on the kitchen floor, twist my ankle, and bang the living shit out of my knee, which is now all swollen up and turning horrific colors. that, of course, has set off my arthritis, although it's not as bad as i was afraid it would be.
i rewarded myself for being so industrious by making a rather wonderful southwestern corn tart (recipe from the Fields of Greens cookbook, which i just can't recommend highly enough) and having it with a little more chardonnay than was strictly necessary. the result: today i'm all headachey and sore, and haven't gotten started on work yet.
and now i have a lot of junk to clear out. is anyone in the area interested in relieving me of a flaky but mostly-functional 600dpi laser printer, a 17" Viewsonic CRT monitor with a slightly fuzzy display, a black wire CD tower that doesn't really stand up on its own, or a cheap maple-veneered end table with metal legs? say something quick, or i'll just end up putting it all down in the basement for my neighbors to cart off.
