worked all day, with ringers off and network cable unplugged to minimize distractions. it's amazing how knowing the end is near improves my attitude.

and now, i'm sitting on my balcony with my laptop, watching the last moments of a glorious sunset. the horizon is just the color of a rare steak, for lack of a better simile. i'm not sure whether that bright light in the sky is the planet venus, the international space station, or a comet coming to destroy the earth, but nothing could ruin this moment for me anyway.

in totally unrelated news, i must be more sparing with the fenugreek. i made potato curry two nights ago, and my sweat still smells of it. not that this is a bad thing, mind you. i adore the scent of fenugreek. but i do think that in the best circles, one doesn't broadcast one's dietary habits to the world via one's underarms.

firecrackers going off in the distance sound remarkably like a manual typewriter in a big echoey room.
