learning new things

so i learned something interesting last night, and then something else interesting this morning, and i thought, you know, i should make a point of trying to learn something new every day and keep a record of it.

last night, i learned that you can tell the difference between a vibraphone and a xylophone by the sustain on the vibes.

this morning, i learned that the H. pylori genome contains 18,480 genes.

ok, so i'm all primed for my quebec city trip, which occurs Feb. 7th-9th. i've got plane tickets. i've got hotel reservations. i even bought a new parka. (note: all this was planned back in like september, before the money crisis.)
