oh joy!

the laptop is back in record time -- i've got to give them credit, they fixed it the day it arrived and shipped it back out the same day -- and now has a brand new keyboard to go with the brand new screen. everything works so far, and they didn't even wipe the hard drive this time, so i don't have to reinstall all my software yet again!

now i just have to hope the cats and i didn't pick up any killer parasites or anything from drinking tap water this morning -- the automated warning call notifying me that there's been a water main break in Pacifica and all residents are advised to boil water for drinking and cooking until further notice didn't come till 10:45, by which time i'd already taken my shower and my medication and let the cats drink from the tap.

a cook's tale

cooking is like making love... preparation is foreplay: the sensual pleasure of touching the ingredients, smelling them, tasting them as they slowly heat up and the aromas and colors intensify. when the dish is ready. you prepare it for serving, carefully or not, depending on the quality of the foreplay -- and then, finally, the climax comes when you take your first bite.

and people wonder why i don't do this for an audience very often.
