i finally stopped at the flower stand on 19th avenue that i pass every week when i go to group. it's on the southbound side, and is closed by the time i'm heading home, so i've never stopped before, but i've always been intrigued by their big sign advertising $2.99 mixed bouquets. i've been buying flowers for myself again lately because it makes me happy to have them around, but it's an unnecessary expense, and i need to stop spending quite so much money on unnecessaries until i know i'll have more money coming in after this contract.
so last night, i realized i had enough time to stop before group, so i turned around and looked through their selection. the $2.99 bouquets are smallish, but really quite nice -- they have a good variety of nicely assembled mixed stuff, much more attractive than, say, the ones one sees at Safeway -- so i picked up a cute bouquet with some white and yellow flowers, very cheerful.
the guy manning the stand was a very cute latino who smiled at me while he wrapped the flowers up in pretty paper. god, what gorgeous eyes. why is everyone so young these days, though?
in herb garden news, my oregano is in dire need of pruning, but i'm hesitant because so often when i prune my herbs to make them branch off more, they just die instead. i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. the basil i planted the other day isn't dying yet, which is a good sign, but i've had such bad luck with basil that i'm not too optimistic.
