i'm in Colorado, safe and sound and well-fed thanks to Jenine's L33T grilling skillz. she's gone off to a parenting class to lecture about fussy babies and immunization, and i'm finishing off the excellent zinfandel Mardene (her mom) didn't like. i should probably leave at least a *little* more of it for j.j, i guess... (have i mentioned that i think Mardene is a really great name? well, i do.)
William seems terribly intimidated by me this time around; one can't expect, of course, that a four-year-old will remember someone he met months earlier, and he's in a shy, drama-queen sort of phase. still, he's warming up to me. honest, i'm being as non-threatening as possible. Raley (short for Aurelia Rose -- is it not a gorgeous name?) has been asleep pretty much continuously since i arrived, so i haven't had time to catch up with her yet.
(don't tell William, but the REAL LIVE SPIDERMAN is coming to his birthday party on sunday! well, ok, it's actually a friend of gnat & j.j's in a Spiderman suit, but hey, he's just turning four. he'll never know the difference.)
tomorrow night, we go out drinking. i suspect, however, that just like last Thanksgiving, we will fail to live up to the prodigiousness of earlier girls' nights out. i think we're just both too old and boring for any more $150 bar tabs. even if![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
ilanarama were here. (jeez, i sure miss Stevi. but i hear she's moved to Florida, and besides, as far as i know, she still thinks i'm the antichrist. such is life. well, such is my life, anyway.)
i guess i'll go drink some more wine and read some more Tolkien. i am determined to finish the entire trilogy before i return to the bay area.
