nickel and dimed

with the economy the way it is and the deficit at a record high, why the hell are we spending a bunch of money to redesign coins that were perfectly fine the way they are? i mean, does anyone out there actually think we need a new nickel? a new dime? is anybody other than coin collectors actually excited about the state quarters? for that matter, does anybody other than coin collectors even notice what's on their coins at all?

i don't know about you, but if they replaced the portrait of Jefferson on the dime with a picture of Saddam Hussein's ass, it would take me months, maybe years, to notice.
