back with a vengeance
Jan. 4th, 2004 09:42 amyesterday i woke up feeling mostly ok, so i drove over to El Cerrito for the game, now hosted by the new guy, Lyman. it was a kickass session, which
kratkrat would've hated due to extreme DANGER! something went wrong with Cobalt, our android crew member, and he took off with our ship. we were stranded on a remote planet of tiny archipelagos populated by the mutated, monkey-like descendants of humans whose ship crashed there 300 years ago. the only two structures still intact and dry enough to serve as shelter were contaminated, one by radiation, the other by the retrovirus the humans apparently used to try to adapt themselves better to the conditions on the planet. two of us barely cheated death -- my character was attacked by a giant manta ray-like creature, and Lyman's character was electrocuted trying to get the reactors back online. we finally got power up and fixed a transmitter to send a distress call. next session, we need to build a boat to make our way over to the next island in the chain, where we've detected a working reactor.
alas, late in the session my migraine started to kick up again. i made it home ok, but an hour later when the elevator/cat disaster occurred i was already feeling seriously wonky, and i woke up this morning with it going full blast again. fuck. this bites the big dick, seriously. i did talk to Shirley, who went down and talked to Kathy, the woman with the cat, after the fire department left last night. she was apparently a total basket case, completely hysterical. which one can't blame her for at all. yikes.
Shirley also told me that the new neighbors next door, who have only been here for a couple of months, are already leaving -- apparently their toilet has been backed up for days, and management never came to do anything about it. better yet, when they told Jeff, the property manager, that they were leaving, he told them that a move-out requirement was for them to have their carpets steam-cleaned and sanitized. this is, of course, total bullshit. there's been no progress of any kind on the improvements they said they were going to make when the building changed hands a few months ago. the coke machine in the basement hasn't even been refilled -- it's completely empty, and has been for several months, but is still turned on and wasting power.
i am thinking it's time to go over this bozo's head to his boss and point out to him that this guy is not only not doing a good job, but actively driving tenants away. but i will deal with this at some time i don't have a migraine.
gah.
