well, there's excitement for you.
Jan. 12th, 2004 10:35 amon their first day in SimCity, Faux Merde and her boyfriend Mate were anxious to make a good impression. they invited two neighbors, Vincent Artiste and Paul Moreau, over for dinner. from the beginning, though, everything went wrong.
first, Mate set the kitchen on fire while preparing dinner. they quickly extinguished it, but neither was in the mood to start over, so Faux ordered some pizza while Mate cleaned up.
once they'd finished the pizza, Mate started a cozy fire in the living room while Faux turned on the stereo and encouraged their guests to dance. a few moments later, though, a cinder from the fireplace ignited the living room rug. quickly, Mate called the fire department while Faux tried to put out the fire. suddenly, she began to scream. she was on fire! Mate tried to extinguish her, but it was too late -- the Grim Reaper had arrived.
unwilling to part with his newfound love, Mate pled with the Reaper for Faux's life. after an intense game of "rock, paper, scissors," the Reaper cursed and conceded -- Mate's plea was successful, and Faux sprang magically back to life!
the fire was still raging, though. while Faux and Mate fled outside to safety, their guests remained inside, too confused by smoke to escape. the Reaper, apparently hoping for another victim, also remained. horribly, Paul Moreau was the next to succumb to fire -- and shortly thereafter, the Reaper himself went up in flames! could this be the end of death in SimCity? would Sims everywhere now enjoy eternal life?
alas, it was not to be. as the fire department finally extinguished the last of the flames, leaving the devastated living room filled only with ashes, a replacement Reaper was sent in to collect Paul's soul. all that remained was a silver urn containing his ashes.
after a brief period of mourning, Faux and Mate said goodbye to Vincent Artiste, who was understandably shaken by the whole episode. Faux spent some time unwinding in a hot bath while Mate swept up the ashes. all of their living room furniture was a loss, but at least they still had each other thanks to Mate's bold challenge to Death itself.
