i'm awaiting word from the place i interviewed yesterday, where i doubt i'll be offered the contract. my gut just says it's a bad fit and that they saw it too. which is, i guess, fine, because it sounded like they're way too high-intensity for me over there. but then again, right now, any job sounds unreasonably intimidating to me.

the up side

i'll be interviewing with Sun in Santa Clara next week. they'll be getting back to me tomorrow or Monday about which day. the job is working on installer docs (yay!) for a suite of java enterprise stuff. Santa Clara is a godawful commute, but i'd be able to work from home most of the time (!!!) if i want. the manager sounds cool, and i made a huge impression on her by nattering about how much i love installer docs before i even knew that was what she wanted me for.

i'm feeling a bit better now.

Maxis also wants to interview me. this bodes well. the project sounds like it could either be really fun or really horrible, depending on how well i get along with the guy i'd be working for. an in-person interview is definitely called for. i did score points by mentioning that i'm a big fan of Maxis games, but that their doc tends to be on the sketchy side.

one can say many things about me, both good and bad, but never let it be said that i don't interview like a fucking champ.
