i'm feeling horribly guilty for spending money on an unnecessary item, even if it was only $20. i'll enjoy the poster anyway, but i really need to learn how to control my impulse spending. to wit:
finding myself at loose ends this afternoon (i really need more friends who are actually available on weekends), i wandered into a Ross, figuring i'd take a pass through the kitchen-stuff aisle and see if there were any bargains. i also like browsing their glassware. nothing caught my fancy. well, not in those departments.
but i won't be having any maid service this pay period after all, because i blew my budget for it on a new kilim. like all my others, it's not authentic; this one was made in India. but it's wool, and it's gorgeous, and it's just the right size for a particularly high-traffic area of the carpet that i've been wanting to cover up. and it was only $70. usually when i contemplate buying something like this, i agonize for hours, or sometimes days -- occasionally weeks. this time, it was just obvious. buy this, and use a mop to clean the bathtub myself.* the rug is that great, at least to my eyes. worth the tradeoff.
no more spendiness for me for a couple of weeks. then, new glasses. they are no longer optional. i just hope they'll accept my two-year-old prescription (which really is still fine) and not insist i get a new one.
* arthritis. i can't kneel on the floor or grip a sponge for long enough to clean a really dirty bathtub, even using scrub-free cleaning products. so i use a mop (when i bother). it works!
