weird and creepy

Devout Catholic pharmacist refuses to refill or transfer woman's birth control prescription, explaining that he feared he would suffer 'spiritual pain' and have trouble sleeping.

the Wisconsin state department of regulation and licensing is considering whether he should lose his pharmacy license, but apparently there is no law that requires a pharmacist to fill your prescription or allow you to transfer it to another pharmacy. if they feel like you shouldn't have it, they can legally hold your medication hostage.

i find this kind of unnerving.

how did i ever live without it?

i love my food mill. it turns making my Indian spiced tomato soup recipe into a much simpler process. hook food mill over large fine sieve. hook sieve over bowl. once you're done with the food mill, remove it and use a wooden spoon to press the remaining liquid from the paste in the sieve. takes half the time it did with cheesecloth and is nowhere near as messy. i'll be making this soup a lot more often now. (yay! it's one of my favorite things ever!)

also, i discovered that if you're using really good tomatoes, you should double the amount of ginger, because it gets buried under the tomato flavor.

last night, i had the soup with a baguette and herbed chevre. tonight i think i'll pick up some pappadams and make a nice cucumber raita to have with the leftovers. and perhaps turn the rest of the baguette into croutons for a caesar salad some night this week.
