for me, maid service is a necessity, not a luxury. what the hell was i thinking only having them in once? this week i will call and arrange for cleaning every two weeks, like i used to have.

it's not so much for the cleaning itself, although that is a wonderful thing; it's that if i don't know someone's going to come in and have to clean up after me, i won't even try. when i have regular maid service, shame and guilt motivate me to keep things under some semblance of control.
