like slasher movies?
May. 15th, 2006 08:35 pmmy old friend Tony's first two cinematic efforts are now available on DVD or as a download for your video iPod. his third movie, Cold Storage, has wrapped production and he's working out a deal for worldwide distribution.
Tony is an absolute virtuoso when it comes to filming on a shoestring budget. his first film, shot on Super 8, cost $9k to make, but it's 1) an absolute blast, 2) a cult classic, and 3) got four stars from Joe Bob Briggs. his second film, in 16mm, cost $20k and looks like it cost at least ten times that much. the third looks fantastic in full digital (what i've seen of it), and while i haven't asked what it cost, i can guarantee you it wasn't into six figures.
see synthetic fur for details. seriously, if you love slasher movies, you're going to love Tony. (he's also extremely cute and makes the best coffee ever.)
i really, really, really hope i'll have been employed long enough to afford a flight to Charlotte for the Cold Storage premiere. i haven't missed one yet, dammit, even when
marq and i had to road trip in the snow in a car with holes in the floorboards and no working speedometer or gas gauge (RIP Weasmobile) and stay in a creepy abandoned house in Gastonia. i will not miss this one. it's bad enough i couldn't get my shit together enough to record a song for the soundtrack.
