gaming geekery
Aug. 18th, 2006 10:48 pmmy new character Shin Inoue, who's former Yakuza, carries a pair of Smith & Wesson .500 magnum revolvers under his jacket. (and yes, you really can hide guns this big using a shoulder holster.)
bquinlan specced this gun out for me in Hero System. this is a supers-level campaign, so we originally thought that in order for his guns to be sufficiently powerful they'd have to be specially modified. but no -- a completely realistic adaptation of this gun is plenty powerful enough all by itself, delivering a 2½d6 ranged killing attack with either armor piercing rounds or hollowpoints (the latter adding a massive stun multiplier). with rubber "non-lethal" rounds it does an astounding 12d6 of normal damage, easily enough to kill a normal human.
holy fucking shit. and did i mention that they're incredibly cool-looking?
(by the way, this is the small version of the .500, at only 14" total length. there's also a model with a 10½" barrel, which makes it 18" long. this version is recommended for use only in extreme cases of penis envy.)
