Versus, directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, starring Tak Sakaguchi, Hideo Sakaki, and Chieko Misaka. the Yakuza meets Evil Dead 2. swords, knives, guns, bigger guns, even bigger guns, zombies, fountains of blood, bad guys vs. badder guys, shakycam, woundcam, ass-kicking pretty boys, and the Japanese version of the crazy FBI agent in The Frighteners. special props to the hilarious, scenery-devouring Kenji Matsuda as the gay, rabid sociopath in the loud suit.

all present were alternately impressed and convulsed with laughter. 119 minutes of pure entertainment. not to be missed. better yet, a sequel has been announced, though so far Tak Sakaguchi is the only confirmed returning cast member. (since most of them got killed at least twice in the first one, this is no great surprise.)
