i'm not sure what you mean by "underpromise". i could theoretically make up a less impressive resume (and my resume is *very* impressive, recruiters and potential employers keep telling me that), but then who would i use for references? i'm not going to ask my friends to lie and pretend to be former employers, that's just taking it too far.

i'm 41 years old. i can only downplay my skills so much before people start to wonder what's wrong with me.
