anyone who went to South of Market in the last few years knows how bad parking was at one time; people parked so tight you had to climb out the windows to get out of your car. you could drive around for an hour looking for a space like that, too.

10:00 a.m. Monday morning: five minutes to find a space. the pay lot nearby was like a ghost town, where it used to be overflowing with people actually waiting in line for someone to leave.

but oh yeah, the recession's over, right? i, um, forgot.
