what's really sad...

...isn't just that the packaging on this hair conditioner i bought yesterday is so riddled with errors:

it's that this product -- a snooty salon-only product, yet, no mere drugstore stuff -- is manufactured and distributed entirely in the US. that's right: the person responsible for letting product packaging go to the manufacturer unedited is most likely a native English speaker, born and raised.

and now i have to go experience sheen tremendous volume without tangles or static electricity.

cooking adventures of late

i have been remiss.

last night: smoked salmon ravioli with asparagus in basil cream sauce. outstanding! i based the sauce on this recipe, and it was excellent, although next time i'll saute the shallot in the butter for a bit before adding the other ingredients.

night before last: Julia Child's coq au vin. dear god this is a fantastic recipe.

tonight: i've got an outstanding fillet of salmon, so gorgeous i'll do nothing to it but grill it with a little salt and pepper. with that, the rest of the asparagus, steamed, with just a touch of butter. and of course lemon wedges to squeeze over all. sometimes simple is the way to go.
