this lovely morning i have the house to myself, since jenine and nathan (who just got home from two consecutive conferences) and the kids have gone off to a Batman-themed birthday party for one of william's friends. i suppose i shall take this time to make my way into the home stretch of the Lord of the Rings trilogy -- only 180 pages left!
