crappy, crappy weekend
Oct. 6th, 2003 11:50 amthe migraine didn't let up till saturday night. sunday i consoled myself with food and an ill-advised shopping trip (but i didn't spend much, and i got a lot for my money at Ross, including a really comfy and stylish pair of shoes for $14.99), and cooked a lovely dinner. then i decided i needed some salsa for dessert, and cut myself. it wouldn't stop bleeding, so i wrapped it up in a paper towel and some duct tape (hey, it was handy) and drove to the hospital.
turns out i sliced off a tiny bit of the tip of my left thumb. i didn't even realize it till the fourth time someone unwrapped it, because it was so bloody i couldn't see what had happened. they couldn't stitch it, since the bit of flesh was gone, so they covered it up with something called "gelfoam" and wrapped my thumb up in a giant, hilarious white bandage. it's like a cartoon bandage. it cracks me up every time i look at it. i'm supposed to leave it on for three or four days. it's unwieldy and has to be kept dry, so it's going to be a massive pain in the butt, but otherwise i'll be fine. the worst part was coming home and finding the tiny bit of flesh still stuck to the knife, which made me a bit lightheaded.
it hurts, though. and it's going to make cooking or cleaning more or less impossible for the next few days, which kind of sucks because i was planning to make some squash ravioli from scratch, and that is totally out of the question now. alas.
