the meat is spoiled but the vodka is good
Oct. 9th, 2004 02:56 pmthis morning i got lost on the way to therapy. yes, i go there twice a week. no, i can't explain myself. it was like i was in the Bermuda Triangle and all my instruments had gone out -- i kept missing exits, making wrong turns, ending up going the opposite direction from where i wanted to be. after a half-hour of this, i had to call and reschedule the appointment, since it was time for me to be there and i was still 20 minutes away, assuming i didn't make any more wrong turns.
since i was already in the city, i decided i'd go to Mel's and have lunch while i waited for my rescheduled appointment. i have been to the Mel's on Geary many times. today, i couldn't find it. finally i gave up and parked on Clement and wandered around till i found a dim sum place that wasn't so crowded i couldn't get in the door. which turned out to be a mistake, since while their shrimp-centric stuff was all good, their pork was terrible. you could tell they were using the least desirable parts of the pig. still, the service was great and it was very cheap. next time, i'll remember not to order anything with pork that isn't BBQ'd into unrecognizability.
later, at the linen outlet down the street, i got a set of 300 thread count, 100% cotton sheets -- king size -- for $39. score! i'm still wondering if i should go back for the really nice duvet cover for $49, but it's not like i really need a duvet cover. it's just that this one was especially attractive.
much discussion today of the need for me to form relationships in which i have at least some power, since i have none to speak of in any of my existing ones. i'm pretty sure a bloody coup is not the correct approach to this issue.
came home to a mysterious curry odor -- for once, it's not oozing from my pores, so i have no idea where it's coming from -- and a still shot from the first gruesome death Tony has filmed for his latest movie. and by gruesome i mean "torn in half, partially flayed, guts spilling out." it looks great. however, i don't think i'm allowed to share.
