a day of goodbyes

i'm late finding out, but wouldprefernot2 died February 18th of complications from multiple myeloma. his cancer was very aggressive and discovered too late for chemo to help him. his ex-girlfriend broke the news here, but since i didn't read her lj, i didn't find out until now.

this is the second time a friend i knew only through the net has died, and the first from livejournal. i suppose that's some sort of rite of passage.

in other news, my manager is my group's latest loss to a game team; i'll now be reporting to a woman i haven't even met yet. most of the group is gone now -- we've got one manager, two developers, and three writers, two of whom are contractors. imminent death of the team predicted. i think my job is safe for the moment, but i am not optimistic about my future here.

at least Abe Vigoda is still alive.

a man refuses to return a severed fingertip found in frozen custard to its owner so it can be reattached. this is one of those times i wish i believed in hell, because this guy deserves to burn.

in other severed finger news, Anna Ayala is accused of witchcraft. Ayala's attorney declines to comment, calling the claim "just too frickin' weird."
