the AFI's 100 Greatest Heroes and Villains list. link via scothen_krau, who suggests matching them up by rank. i'm trying to decide who to cast in Woodward & Bernstein vs. the Martians. (current favorites: Mark Wahlberg as Bernstein, Ed Norton as Woodward, with Angelina Jolie as the seductive but evil Martian Queen.)

i dunno about the outcome, though. sure, Santa Claus conquered the Martians, but as far as i know, Woodward & Bernstein don't have a magic sled or an army of elf henchmen.

or should that be sidekicks? i get the feeling that good guys have sidekicks and bad guys have henchmen.

anyway, The Power Of The Press is pretty mighty... but who knows what fiendish weapons the Martians may have developed in their underground labs?

in my building we have to use 'rechargeable' cards to run the laundry machines. i'm pretty careful with it. i almost always put it in the same place, and if i don't find it there, it's invariably in a pair of pants somewhere. i've lived in this apartment almost ten years now, and i never lost the card the whole time.

then, a couple of months ago, i lost it. i looked everywhere. everywhere. couldn't find it. picked up a new one from the rental office.

tonight, i once again can't find my laundry card. i have cleared off every surface. i have looked in every pair of pants. i have looked behind things, under things, between things. i've been looking since about 8:00. i can't have left it in a machine -- the machines won't run till you pull the card out. and i never take it with me anywhere.

it's just, apparently, gone.

what the FUCK.

(too late to go to a laundromat. too late to do laundry even if i find the card.)
