...but i finally got round to seeing Goblet of Fire last night, and Rupert Grint, the kid who plays Ron, is already showing visible signs of major sexiness. and i'm not talking just 'cute' here. the kid has got The Funk. in a big way.

he's 17. and in another three or four years, he's going to officially be Sex On Legs. Tom Felton, who plays Draco, is also becoming rather tasty (or maybe it's just that i've got a sneer fetish), but he still hasn't figured out the accent.

of the others, Dan Radcliffe (Harry) had Moments of Manliness, but not in an especially sexy way; Emma Watson (Hermione) is Untouchably Virginal, Matthew Lewis (Neville) is actually pretty damn cute despite his complete lack of chin, the Phelps twins (Fred and George) are still On Fire, and Robert Pattinson (the late lamented Cedric) was so Tragically Handsome that i wanted to Slap Him.

i was quite disappointed with Stanislav Ianevski as Viktor Krum. he's very cute (in a stocky, Russian-Man-Strong-Like-Tractor sort of way), but he looks absolutely nothing like the character is described in the books. Viktor's supposed to be tall and skinny and have a very crooked nose and a slightly duck-footed walk. and Ianevski couldn't brood if his life depended on it. he always looks like he's about to burst out in a big grin.

then again, Radcliffe doesn't look a damn thing like Harry's meant to either. although he does have an interesting, almost unreal quality about him, much like Elijah Wood. doesn't do a thing for me. which is probably a good thing, considering i could be any of these kids' mother.

i still wonder why they couldn't just slap a wig and some contacts on Radcliffe. i mean, honestly.

oh... what did i think of the movie? it was fine. i liked some bits, didn't like others, and thought whatshisname was insufficiently dotty as Dumbledore. i'm seriously peeved that they did such a halfassed job on the plot thread in which Ron doesn't bother asking Hermione to the Ball because he's sure nobody else will, and when he does he fucks it up massively and she's already got a date. that's a fairly key moment in both characters' development, and it was barely mentioned. i realize it's difficult to make a 700-page book into a two-hour movie without losing some scenes, but i think a lot of character development fell by the wayside in favor of Big Action Scenes that could've been a few seconds shorter without losing anything.

yeah, yeah, ok, it's an action movie for kids. fuck the kids. i want drama!

you know, i never really bothered to picture myself at almost-40. i've never thought about the future much at all, really. but i'm pretty sure if i had, i wouldn't have pictured myself thinking impure thoughts about 17-year-olds.

19-year-olds, maybe. but not 17-year-olds. because that's just wrong.

or at least, that's my story and i'm sticking to it.
