It used to be, way back when, that journalism was about finding the truth. The problem, in a nutshell, is that they (hell, we, as a society) have been browbeaten into accepting the proposition that there is no such thing as truth.
yeah, that's pretty much it in a nutshell. coming down on one side or another is immediately decried as biased reporting, no matter how obvious it is that the other side is actually wrong.
