i'm putting milk on my credit card, and two of my friends can't afford their medication. my mother told me earlier this week the government has cut my parents' benefits. since the government will no longer pay for the home healthcare worker to come in and bathe my dad daily, my mom is spending $50/week for someone to come in twice a week and bathe him. my dad, mind you, is incontinent as well as being wheelchair-bound, with severe hand tremors from MS, having had several strokes, and being legally blind. lest you think my mom should take on this responsibility, she's morbidly obese, diabetic, and requires oxygen 24/7 for congestive heart failure. oh, and they both have really high blood pressure. they have no savings, and no income except for my father's government pension and SSI. the SSI that got cut.

but what is the country's attention on? war. the middle east. anything but what's happening right here at home.

what's wrong with this picture?

augh!

i got paid! one of my checks arrived today; the other, i am assured, will be mailed on friday.

finally i can pay my bills. whew. and it sure does feel good not to have to carry rolled nickels and dimes in my purse because they're the only cash i have.

after writing out checks for my critical bills, i'm almost out of money again already. fortunately one of the big ones doesn't absolutely have to go out until the end of the week, so i can leave myself a bit of a cushion.

things are still going to be hairy for the next month or so, but i think i'm mostly out of the woods now. still some bills left unpaid but nothing i can't live without if it gets cut off. i don't think too much damage has been done to my credit rating. and i can use a couple of my credit cards again.

oh, and nerdsholm is back up. yay!

Christopher Walken as Hamlet.

I have of late, but wherefore I know not, lost all my mirth -- foregone all custom of exercises, and indeed, it goes so heavily with my disposition that this goodly frame, the Earth, seems to me a sterile promontory. This most excellent canopy, the Air -- look, you! This brave, o'erhanging firmament! This majestical roof fretted with golden fire! Why, it seems no other thing to me than a foul and pestilent congregation of vapours. What a piece of work is a man! How noble in reason! How infinite in faculty! In form and moving, how express and admirable! In action, how like an angel! In apprehension, how like a god! The beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me, no, nor woman neither, though by your smiling you seem to say so.

no, really. imagine. it's special.

p.s. i typed that in from memory, so if there are any mistakes it's still impressive, dammit.
