well, that was kind of cool.
Sep. 4th, 2003 06:44 pmfirst time i've felt a quake coming. i was communing with iceberg in the bathroom (don't ask), and the floor started to sort of vibrate. i said to him, "hey, are we about to have an --"
*WHAM* (iceberg goes vertical, richochets off the mirror, falls into the hand towel bowl, spins it around, scrabbles for footing, and takes off for his favorite hiding place behind the bed, leaving the hand towels rocking)
"-- earthquake?"

no damage, no one hurt, both cats still in hiding. i'm surprised by how small the USGS claims this one was, because it felt pretty strong all the way over here on the coast, and it happened over Berkeley way...
canetoad?
dwenius? everything ok over there?

a li'l aftershock!
they're not as much fun as hurricanes. over too quickly. no time to run out for beer. still, a little excitement in an otherwise dull day. and it sure does shake one out of a torpor.
the cats are still hiding, of course. they are strongly against the entire concept of earthquakes.
